Win a TFO Rod as a RGVFTC Member

If you just joined the Rio Grande Valley Fly Tyers Club and the Federation of Fly Fishers this may earn you a TFO rod of your choice. New IFFF and RGVFTC members will be placed on a list until we reach 18 new members. You have a 1:18 chance on a drawing.

Rhonda Sellers is determining who the new members for the RGVFTC area and will let us know soon. We have decided that a TFO TiCR X series rod would be best for our fly fishing venue.

So to get this rod the number of new members must be 18. Please read the information below that I took off of the IFFF website for more information. Although, we have a choice of 12 or 18, we have gone for the 18 rod option.

FFF Clubs Receive Rods for Members

Thanks for the generous partnership with Temple Fork Outfitters, clubs and councils can receive rods for new members they attract to the International Federation of fly Fishers. Clubs and Councils can start receiving rods for 12 member or 18 member credits. See below for the choices.

IFFF application for new member must be marked with the name of the FFF club or council on the refered line of the application to receive the credits. PLEASE DO NOT USE PRESIDENT'S NAME OR ABBREBIATION OF CLUB'S NAME.  The IFFF will keep track of the credits, but we must have good information to associate the new member with the appropriate club.

Procedures

Once the club reaches the total of 12 new membership credits a club officer can request a rod by contacting fffofice@fedflyfishers.org or continue to accrue credits until a total of 18 has been achieved.

Special Rules

1. Youth membership will qualify as 1/2 credit each.
2. Free Disabled Vet Memberships do not qualify.
3. Membership applications received with incorrect, promotional rates, or old dues amounts do not qualify.
4. Credit will be given to the club or the council, not both. IFFF HQ will give credit to the club or council that the member designates on the application.

IFFF Clubs or Councils may use their rod rewards as they see fit, club raffle, prizes, auction items, etc. They may also obtain
more than one rod during this promotion period.

Tying the B-R Special

The Rio Grande Valley Fly Tyers Club will be featuring the B-R Special this coming Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Bass Pro Shop meeting room. Captain Bryan Robinson will be teaching us how to weave fox fur, synthetic body material, and crystal flash on a saltwater hook to create a fish catching fly.

The session will start at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Fly tying vises, tools, and materials will be available for those attending. The cost for the lesson is $2.50 for non-members and free for RGVFTC members.

If you are not a member and want to attend, let me know so that I can plan to have materials available. Membership forms will be available. You must be a member of the Federation of Fly Fishers to become an official member of RGVFTC. Contact the IFFF at www.fedflyfishers.org if interested in becoming a member.

See you soon.
